quotes on narrative and identity

Dialogue requires that in some way one abandons one's own position to enter into that of the other. The more I give myself to the other, the better I know myself and the more I acquire a unique identity.

Relationships shape our unique individual stories and identities.

Stories are the means by which we organize our experiences and try to find meaning in them. We are each a composite of the stories we tell about ourselves and the stories we tell others about us.

Our personal identity is really the composite of relational experiences that make up our personal history.
